Full Interview with GM Andrew of Feelin Scoopie

Question 1: It looks like you and Aaron Rodgers recently agreed to a five-year extension. How does he fit into your long-term plans as a GM?
Aaron's about a good a player as you're going to see, and to be able to have a guy like him locked up long-term is great for the team.  I think he has the potential to have a big day any week in the season, so I think you've always got a chance with a guy like him on the roster.  We're definitely happy to have Aaron for the next five years.

Question 2: At any point were you concerned with Rodgers' contract?
You know, there was definitely concern.  And it's not about paying Rodgers so much as it is about overpaying him.  But we committed in the first place to giving him a good deal of cash and we believe he's been worth it.  There was a lot of thought put into regarding what to do about his contract but I think we made the right move.

Question 3: Rodgers was the only player that you extended this season. Do you believe that you can compete this year and/or in the coming years and do you have a plan in mind to help you to potentially win a championship?
Well, I mean, we're obviously in rebuilding mode.  I could put on my PR hat and say we've got a chance to win it all this year but I think we all know it would take a lot of luck to get us to that place.  We're just hoping to improve this year and build the foundation for a championship team.

Question 4: Did you give thought to extending any other players? If so, who?
Cordarelle Patterson is definitely in the mix but we're hoping to see more out of him this year and how he may develop with a new QB.  A lot of our team is sort of in "prove yourself" mode right now, and we'll see who's earning extensions after this season or the next.

Question 5: Have you had a chance to meet Carlos Hyde and Davante Adams yet? How excited are you to have them as part of your team?
We have a lot of faith in Carlos and Davate and think are both are going to be great contributers going forward.  Obviously we also pulled in Marcus Lattimore in this draft so with the Niners backfield we're just hoping some guys break out there.  Regarding Davante, it's always good to have Aaron Rodgers throwing you the ball, and we think he's got the skillset to be a big contributor in the coming years.

Question 6: Final predictions for the 2014 season? Where do you end up?
You know, again, we're rebuilding, so I think we're all tempering our expectations a bit.  We'll see what we can do in free agency and see how all of our young talent comes along.  I don't really want to put a number on it but I think we'd definitely like to see at least three or four more wins this year, and if we're real lucky, maybe we can sneak into the playoffs.
